I am a wife, mother, and grandmother! I am married to my high school sweetheart and absolute best friend, Jody. My husband and I have been together since we were 15 years old! We have two grown children, a son and a daughter. We are also proud grandparents of an amazing little boy and a precious little girl!
I lost 93 pounds back in 2003 through the Weight Watchers program. I became a lifetime member then. However, I was just on a mission to get the weight off no matter what the means - I didn't care about nutrition and wellness back then - just give me the lowest points possible. I just thought - lose the weight and that was it - the finish line, the gold medal. I ended up gaining all my weight back, plus an additional 20 pounds.
In 2019 my husband and I started the WW Freestyle program and both lost weight. My husband lost 70 pounds and is maintaining. I lost 50 pounds but gained back 15 in 2020 when I was hit with COVID and also went through a bad ulcerative colitis flare. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in 2004. I go through periods of remission and periods of flares.
I'm still in a fat loss mode, for the most part, but I no longer focus on the scale. I am working the WW Personal Points program but I'm also counting calories and watching my macros. I am now LIVING life while learning what my body wants and needs through nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness. My goal is to find the foods that fuel my body and that my body wants and needs. I typically follow the 80/20 rule - 80% of the foods I put in my body are whole foods - lean meats, whole grains, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats - and the other 20% are for the not-so-healthy foods.
I firmly believe that each one of us is different and each one of us needs to find what works best for us as individuals. I don't believe any way of eating is the right or wrong way - it's what works for YOU.
I'm not a chef, by any means, but I do love cooking. I love taking recipes and making them my own. I love to meal plan and prep! I work outside the home full time, but my passion is doing all I can to be Planning Us Healthy!

It's been an exciting two days experimenting with the new WW plan. While I have much more research to do (and am hoping to dive in this week since I have a couple days off work this week), I did finally come up with a way to share my recipes with you for YOUR Personal Points values!
As we were moving towards the new WW Personal Points program, my biggest worry was how I would share the points with you all. You know that I've always encouraged you to build the recipes into your own trackers so you can make any adjustments for different brands you use, etc. However, I also understand some people don't want to do that. They're fine with estimating and trusting the points of those of us sharing.
The way I've always calculated the points and calories has always been through the WW Recipe Builder for the points and then MyFitnessPal for the nutritional values. I have so many recipes already built in my WW Recipe Builder, so when I go to track a meal, I just look for the recipe and hit track. Simple. After all, once you build the recipe in the recipe builder, it stays there for you. And when WW changes their points system, it automatically changes the points for you as well.
As I was updating a recipe late last night, I got to thinking about how I used to send my daughter recipes back when she did WW. And then it hit me!! HELLO, LIGHT BULB!! When I shared them with her, I was on blue and she was on purple, but when she would get the recipe, it would show up with HER purple points!! Sooo, I can share those recipes with you in the same way I shared them with her!!
When you go to my recipes on my website (after I get them all updated - but don't worry, there's one for you to test now), you'll see a slight change over in the nutritional information. The nutritional value will still be there and I'm also keeping the points for the blue, green, and purple, in case someone wants those. But you'll also see some new verbiage there that will look like this:
To check YOUR WW Personal Points value for this recipe, or to track it in your WW app or website, click here.
But the "click here" will be a link. When you click the link, it will bring you straight to my recipe in the WW app or website!! And if you're logged in to your WW page, it will give you YOUR PERSONAL POINTS!!
From there, you can just track the recipe to your day and move on!! The cooking instructions will remain on my website, but at least this will allow you to quickly check your personalized points for a recipe and track it. (NOTE! From what I have learned, if you are using the computer, it will not let you EDIT the recipe. You have to use your phone and edit it through the app. Not sure if that's a glitch or something WW is working on).
To show you what I'm talking about, I already updated my chili recipe so you can check it out for yourself! It's at the end of this post!
I'll make sure to discuss this information in an upcoming video towards the end of the week, but I wanted to get something out ASAP because I can't contain my excitement!!
This is just for MY recipes. I'm not sure how I'll handle it when I'm sharing someone else's recipe since I usually just send you to their website. I will have to think more on that one.
As you all know, I have a full-time job, so it's going to take me a while to update all the recipes since I only have evenings and weekends to do it. However, I have a couple days off this week, so I'll do my best to get as many updated on those days as possible. But please be patient with me.
In the meantime, I THANK YOU ALL for your support! I truly appreciate the friendships I have with all of you!! We have an absolutely amazing community!
So, click here to head on over to my Chili Recipe and try it for yourself! When you're on the chili recipe page, go to the nutritional value and click the link to see your personal points and track it automatically!
11/9/21 - 7:45 p.m. UPDATE!! I was just made aware that this will only work if you are in the same country as the person sharing the recipe!! (I am in the U.S., so it will only work if you are in the U.S.) I'm so bummed about this because I know I have lots of friends in other countries besides the U.S. So, I'll continue to try to find ways to still help in any way I can!!
